Peñablanca

The town’s adjacent location to the Regional Trade Center poses a problem to its economic situation and it controls the inrush of commercial ventures because this motivates the people from Peñablanca to avail there their needs. The other neighboring towns of Peñablanca are far and there are no roads connecting them; thus, commercial activities are not profitable.

Amidst all these, interventions to divert this problem have been given major concern by the LGU. The involvement of the increasing rate of eligible yet unemployed persons in the municipality is one of its prime targets. To subdue this problem, the LGU together with the national government encourages individuals to engage themselves in entrepreneurship. They are being pushed to devote their time to something worth dealing and earning to support their daily needs. Also, they persuade individuals with innovative minds to create jobs for others.

Far flung barangays in the municipality especially traders from Lagum and Southern Areas are also provided with the necessary “know how” to play the game in the business world.

Instead of planting for their daily consumption, majority of the farmers are already maximizing all possible areas to increase their production and latertrade their products to a nearby business center.

Wholesale Trade

Continuous economic crisis created a great impact on the closure of establishments devoted with wholesaling. People engaged in this type of business venture could not really ascertain its 100 percent operation because of fear that it would not prosper due to the municipality’s nearness to the Regional Town Center where people could do multiple commercial activities and the high cost of products that causes the business owners to stop the operation.

Retail Trade

Retailing is the major commercial activity in the municipality. There were 478 proprietors engage in these businesses. Sari-sari stores have the most number with a total of

456 followed by 17 talipapa’s and 5 LPG outlets. There are also other retail establishments such as farm supply, gasoline outlet, veterinary supply, pharmacy, fill water and many others.

This denotes that retail business is much easier for the people of municipality and that minimal capital can already mean opening business in retail trade.
