Barter, the direct exchange of goods and services was the original form of trade in the olden times but now, modern traders generally negotiate through a medium of exchange, such as money. With this, variation could now be identified among buying, selling and earning. The invention of money greatly simplified and promoted trade.

Trade exists for many reasons and between places. Due to specialization and division of labor, most people concentrate on a small aspect of production, trading for other products. Trading between places manifest advantages like: production of tradable commodities and the places’ size allows for the benefits of mass production however, for whatever its worth, trade at market prices between locations benefit both.

EXISTING SITUATION

For CY 2006, commercial establishments showed a slow degree of progress. Their presence could not really be considered as great contributors to the municipality’s economic standing.

Business establishments outset in the municipality are 456 sari-sari stores, 6 bakeries, 17 eateries/carinderia/panciterias/refreshment parlors, 13 butcheries, 3 billiards, 5 videoke bars, 1 barber shop, 8 feeds dealers, 5 LPG outlets, 1 enterprise, 2 hardwares, 1 recreation center, 1 slaughter house, 1 physical fitness center and many others.

Talipapas are also spread in some barangays to cater the needs of the community during non-market days. This kind of business establishment provides convenience and is well chosen by the people since its presence relieves the situation of the residents in terms of food availability.

There are two PublicMmarkets in the municipality located at barangays Malibabag and Camasi which serves as the main trading center where people from adjacent barangays and other municipalitys especially peddlers to trade their commodities.

Aside from two public markets, there are two establishments owned and managed by the municipal government both found in barangay Camasi. The physical fitness center with an area of 100 sq.m. which caters to those individuals who are health conscious and the municipal slaughterhouse (abattoir) containing an area of 96 m2 where animals are being butchered before being disposed for consumption.
